Been a long time patient always friendly and wait time is short. Whenever I need an appointment it's fast and they work around my crazy schedule. Thanks and thanks to Dr. Wright always there with a smile and great wealth of knowledge
If you already have a Doctor and you are satisfied with him/her, I would recommend staying away from Appomattox Family Practice because the office personnel will make you wanna curse a blue streak and pull their hair out. THEY ARE TERRIBLE.
I called that morning for something that should have been considered extremely urgent, they could not work with me in the 3 hour time slot I gave them, then scheduled a tentative appointment while I tried to see if I could re-arrange my day to make that work which I could not. So i called them back 20 minutes later to cancel. Now I get a nasty letter calling me a no-show telling me that I "affected their whole day and other clients by being a no show" and marked my record. This is poor business and I expect medical professionals to be held to a higher standard than that. My appointment was only in the computer for 20 minutes and I very clearly called and cancelled. Now they expect fees for not showing up. Its just another way to squeeze extra money out of people. I still never got my emergency dealt with.
Let's talk about actually getting an appointment. I was so sick I couldn't even drive myself to the Doctor's office and called and finally got someone on the line. I needed an appointment asap and "Joan" said the earliest thing they had was over a week away. Really?! I am what feels like dying and I told her that and she comes back with a next Tuesday appointment and this was Monday a week earlier. She got off the phone after I questioned her mental abilities and came back on with we'll work you in today. She had to ask someone that?? I had the flu by the way.
The office personnel are atrocious. Arrogance and incompetence are the rule of the day. You call to make an appt. and get put on hold, with the phone message saying the next available operator with be with you shortly, almost every time. I walked in once when I got placed on hold. I was in the parking lot and the women behind the window were laughing and talking with no regard to answering the phones. Then you got this woman named Gwen, who is a real smartass, along with some incompetent woman named Joan, who tries too hard to sound sexy over the phone. Last but not least you have the office manager who has the biggest, most arrogant attitude of all.
You know, they can have that attitude and overpower us with incompetence now because they are the only game in town, but if another credible Doctor opened a practice in Appomattox, that office would shut down. Not because of the Doctors as Dr. Hoffman is a very good Doctor and very personable, but because of the office personnel. I feel that Dr. Hoffman doesn't know they are acting like that in the front office because if he did I am sure changes would be made.
So happy to see these reviews as I was a patient many years ago and considered coming back since I retired and no longer need to travel to Lynchburg for work and was looking for a physician closer to home...and had previously enjoyed Dr. Hoffman...Think I'll stick with Dr. Tatum at Physician's Treatment Center...he is awesome & caring and although a high flow office their personnel are extreamly sympathetic to their patients...
I have new insurance and they are in network BUT refuse to make me an appointment until they have my records...like I cannot provide a sufficient health history...my previous doctor is taking their time..I mean what do they have to lose..in the MEANTIME I informed CVFP I am a cancer survivor who has been without my meds for months now and am suffering serious side effects that a simple thyroid pill would help...AND STILL THEY WONT SEE ME YET! WHAT HAPPENED TO GREAT PATIENT CARE???? I am just blown away by the lack of compassion!
