Campsites very nice. Redbud bathroom old and unpleasant. Water very rusty. No TV reception. No Verizon reception. Radio limited. We won't ever return.
I am a local, and have lived in Appomattox all my life. I grew up coming to Holliday Lake and have recently started bringing my kids there. However, the last two times we have been to visit weren't so great. One visit my daughter and I both got objects stuck in our feet (glass and something metal). So the next visit we wore water shoes, only for there to be POOP ALL over the beach area and the grass walking from the beach area to the lake bath house. There was even poop floating in the water. We were really grossed out and left. But while we were there, I did witness a little girl cut her foot on something while playing in the water. (I really don't want someone to get sick from visitors that can't clean up after their pets and maybe even kids. And if it's from all the geese that live there , some of the employees need to clean some of the poop up, because it is too much.) It saddens me that we will not be returning to Holliday Lake for swimming. Hope they can clean up the place.
We had a great time! We interacted with a very friendly & helpful park ranger, the sites were very well kept, and the bathrooms were warm, very clean, and well lit. I would definitely come back again.
Spent three nights there and enjoyed it. However if you have a camper that is over 18 ft you'll find it very hard for a level spot or anywhere close to level. The park is not set up to accommodate medium-to-large trailers. Very narrow entrances very difficult to navigate Plus over half of the sites are on the wrong side for a trailers front door.
I have lived not even an hour away for 10+ years and made my first visit with one of my 2 kids and husband this past weekend. Not only was it incredibly great priced/cheap but it was very well kept, clean, friendly, and safe. I did not ever have to use the restrooms but the entire park was clean and I would feel safe in assuming they were clean as well. The water was clean enough to see through and they had all kinds of fun water floats and places to jump in and general water fun. Kids under 2 are free and they do have a concession stand to buy food although you can bring your own. I can't wait to return with both my kids!
